Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."   Matt. 19:14

Odyssey in Outer Space - Decorations

Decorating is another area where you can go as simple or extravagant as you want to.   Our first few years we decorated no more than some banners in the hallway and sanctuary.   It has snowballed since then.   Now our church building undergoes a major transformation and the children just love coming in to it.   We love seeing the excitement in their eyes and on their faces.    Several women, teens, and children throw themselves into the decorations.   You would be amazed at the inexpensive finds at dollar stores, Oriental Trading, party stores, attics, along with some homemade creativity.   We’ve tried to share our ideas in the different units.   Have fun!   This is a great area for creative teens to help or even head up.

At the front of the sanctuary we used black table cover to create the effect of black space. We bought glitter foam space stickers from Walmart to stick onto the table covers.

Decorations

In the room we used for games, we used blue table covers to put up around the room. We bought a shimmery table cover and cut out as many stars as we could out of it. The stars were about three inches. We glued the stars onto the table covers and glued them to strings to hang from the ceiling.

Decorations

The planets hanging from the ceiling, we bought from Oriental Trading. We made the rocket out of seven sheets of poster board from the local dollar store and some markers.

We don't have a picture of it, but in the hall we put up black table covers, on all of the walls. We then painted on stars with white and silver puffy paint. We hung rockets and planets from the ceiling. It looked really cool.
